About Stevie's Morning Star Adventures©
Working in tandem with The Science Ship™ is an animated children’s program that starts with our smallest scientists in training named Stevie’s Morning Star Adventures©. It brings children into the world of science through the eyes of Stevie, her brother Iz and their scientist mentor Professor Polauus PhD. It starts by conveying basic science concepts to children. The characters make periodic appearances aboard the Morning Star Explorer and take part in the exploration of the world and science. Finding value in science gives children an inherent better understanding of the world.
Ahoy! Meet Stevie©, a seven-year-old adventurer with a passion for sea horses and exploration, and her little brother Iz©: a tome-toting, puzzle-solving researcher-in-training whose epiphanies strike him as “Idea Lightning.” Aboard the sailing vessel RV Morning Star Explorer, aka The Science Ship™ Stevie© and Iz© go from their animated world to traveling the high seas with scientists—learning fun ocean facts and making new friends along the way!
Stevie’s Morning Star Adventures© emphasizes learning in a fun, family-friendly way that demonstrates the interconnectedness of our seas and our lives. So grab your kids, your parents, and your friends! Join Stevie©, Iz©, Professor Polauus©, Mom, Dad and friends aboard the RV Morning Star Explorer as they discover the wonders of our world. The crew of Stevie’s Morning Star Adventures© is comprised of experts in early childhood development and skilled in the ability to connect with younger audiences.
Stevie is based on the childhood of our Chairman-Steven Robertson. The idea for Stevie came about one afternoon from a creative collaboration. We were missing an element in our programming and that was introducing young children into the world of science. What could we do? What was the current thought in early childhood development and science learning?
As our discussions progressed we all shared our earliest remembrances of how each of us was drawn into the world of science. When it became our chairman's turn, we were all mesmerized. He told the group about his growing up in a turn of the century Victorian home owned by Miss Smith, a retired educator. His mom and dad rented the first floor of a four story home. Miss Smith lived on the second floor and a variety of boarders occupied the third and forth floors.
It was who was on the forth floor that started his wonderment and love of science. On the forth floor lived Professor Polauus PhD. He was a retired University Professor and scientist extrodinaire. If ever there was a real Indiana Jones, it was Professor Polauus PhD. He would tell Steven tales about his adventures on the oceans, in the rainforests and deserts of the world. Steven would listen to his stories for hours while the Professor taught Steven how to play Chinese Checkers. Steven soon brought his best friends Georgie, Linda and Elizabeth into this enchanted world.
It was in the basement of the Victorian that housed Professor Polauus's laboratory and objects of his world travels. There were shields and spears from Africa, crossbows and other artifacts from antiquities, all manner of creatures living and mounted and of course the aquariums containing exotic fishes from the world's waterways. Steven was four years old, first born to his mother and father and the darling of Miss Smith and Dr. Polauus.
Steven was mentored during the day by the good Professor and Miss Smith. They kept him entertained for hours until his parents arrived home from work. He learned about, cultures, oceans, rainforests and creatures from around the globe. Professor Polauus taught him about how things worked, Earth's creatures-on land and in the water, about the forests, they gazed at the stars through his telescope, he showed him how to load and fire a crossbow and Miss Smith taught him about reading, math and manners. The field trips to the science and history museums, zoo and aquarium only reinforced Steven's passion for science. Professor Polauus, Steven's dad and the whole gang would go on expedition to replenish Professor Polauus's aquariums and terrariums. It was always the Sea Horses that were first on Steven's agenda when he went into the basement laboratory. He was incredulous to the fact that the male Sea Horse carried the young. They were elegant and smart.
Steven's imagination and the imaginations of Georgie, Linda and Elizabeth would transform the basement into a rainforest or some far away land complete with creatures imaginary or real. It was an adventure they all looked forward to each day. Steven's dad and professor Polauus would go into character and secret themselves somewhere in the basement and pretend to be beasts of the rainforests or local inhabitants of some distant land. It never got old for any of them including his dad and professor Polauus. Steven became pretty good at Chinese checkers and the neighborhood cool kid because of Dr. Polauus.
As the years passed school, sports, social events and the opposite sex gradually replaced the Professor and his adventures until one day he was gone. He had passed away. A relative came for his possessions. The local museum, aquarium and zoo received his artifacts and animals and just like that our world and time with the Professor was in our memories. Soon after Miss Smith passed at the age of 99. The Victorian was left to a local church and her books and possessions were auctioned. It was not to be believed. We were devastated. Every child deserves a Professor Polauus and a Miss Smith and all the characters who made up their world.
So Stevie was born. We decided to reorganize the genders in favor of a strong female character to show girls that the realm of science had great possibilities for women. Just look at what Sylvia Earle has accomplished in her life time. So, Elizabeth (Iz) became Stevie and Steven became Iz. The stories are true and based on real events. We hope you enjoy Stevie because she has many more adventures and lessons to share with you.
